Outdoor Services

Beginning May 10th, United Lutheran will begin holding outdoor services. The goal of these services is to provide an opportunity for our congregation to worship physically together while also minimizing the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

We understand that different people have different levels of concern regarding Covid-19. Please do not feel obligated to attend if you are uncomfortable doing so, or if you are at greater risk of serious health problems from the coronavirus. We will be providing a live stream of the service for those who decide to worship at home (See details below).

For those who do attend, we ask that you follow these instructions out of respect and concern for everyone else in attendance. These instructions are based on the directed health measure from the State of Nebraska and other guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Center for Disease Control and the NE Nebraska Public Health Department.

Front lawn of the church

9:00 AM each Sunday

Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

  • The following people are encouraged to stay home or remain in your vehicle:

    • The elderly

    • People with underlying medical conditions

    • Family members who live with elderly people or those who are at risk

    • People who have access to those at risk in nursing institutions

    • People who have upper respiratory or flu-like symptoms

    • People who live with someone with upper respiratory or flu-like symptoms

    • People with COVID-19 or who live with someone with COVID-19

    • People who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19

  • For those at greater risk

    • There will be space in the two alleys and on the street if you would like to park and remain in your car. Just roll down your window to hear the service.

  • Households should sit 8 feet apart.

    • Please space yourselves out accordingly. It is thought that singing can cause the coronavirus to be caught from further away, so we are going above the usual 6-foot distance.

    • If you do not observe this distance, you may be asked to move.

  • Arrival and departure

    • If you arrive early, please sit towards the front and allow others to fill in behind you. This will minimize how much people are passing one another.

    • After the service, you will be dismissed in sections to discourage people from congregating as you leave.

  • Bulletins

    • Bulletins will be set out on a table with hand sanitizer next to them. Please use the sanitizer as you grab one.

  • Offering

    • There will be a bucket available for you to put your offering in as you leave.

    • You can give online at www.laurelulc.org.

  • Church building

    • The church building will be closed during the service.

Backup Plan

There will likely be weeks when the weather does not cooperate with having an outdoor service. In that case, we will not have the physical service but will still live stream one. We will notify you of changes by 8:00 PM the Saturday before through email, Facebook and text.

Live Stream Details

As we begin outdoor services, we will be transitioning from pre-recorded services to a live stream. You will be able to watch it in real time or after the service. You can access our live stream here
