Rededicate 250 the Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence

I want to interrupt our discussion on the return of Christ and our “God of the Times and Seasons” topic because we need to think about the 250th Anniversary of our nation.
As I stated last in month’s article, the return of Jesus Christ is really at the core of all of my private study. Even our current Sunday series on Joshua lays the foundation for our beliefs about literal Israel because there seems to be a literal Israel as a large factor in the Lord’s return. And this leads necessarily to the subject of geo-politics. Geo-politics forms the background of all prophecy, and the Bible’s history. Where does the United States fit into biblical geo-political scheme?
In just 250 years, the United States has grown into the most influential and powerful civilizations in history. How is that? Is that overstated? I don’t think so.
I remember 1976, called the bi-centennial, 50 years ago. It was a big deal. There was a lot going on in my life as a fifteen year old. It was bi-centennial everything, from quarters to coffee mugs.
And now fifty years later, it looks like it will be the same celebrations all over again—or nearly so. I didn’t think anything could top the Bi-Centennial. (I think I still have a few Bi-Centennial quarters laying around.)
But there’s one difference, below the celebrations, we are more divided than I’ve ever seen. It’s okay to disagree on poverty, taxes, social security, big business and labor. It’s okay to argue about issues like farm and ag policy, and education. Our parents and grandparents argued about these things too. We have disagreed on these things for generations. It’s never been about that. The leftist has seized these issues. They will hold you and I hostage to those policies to keep your votes. Read that again.
But while policy and politics are clearly on the surface, the real issues lie just below. And like underwater currents are often invisible, these “currents” are drifting us ever closer to a precipice that is unimaginable. How do I know this? It is predicted in the Bible. And the globalists spell it out in clear language.
The enemy is still clearly at work. And the finger clearly points to the globalists and their agendas. They are the players in the New World Order agenda which has clearly been outlined by their conferences in Davos, Dubai and elsewhere. Globalism is what was at work in Genesis 11 in the Tower of Babel, and in the book of Daniel and Revelation.
The Devil is using these otherwise benign public policy and political differences to advance his agenda. And it is pitting us against one another to advance it’s cause.
So sadly we are not the same country in that regard. But is there hope? Hope is found in God alone. As much of a patriot and a healthy nationalist that I am, I realize that our hope is not in our country, or in any government of man, but in God alone. So once again, with our forefathers, we call for a dedication of our selves and our land to God.
The reason is, what David says in Psalm 33. “Let all the earth fear the Lord...The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect...No king is saved by the multitude of an army” The bottom line is, God distinguishes between kings and nations in general and His elect in particular, predestined from the foundations of the world.
But so many have problems understanding that God has a sovereign geo-political plan for kings and nations which is different from His personal loving plan of redemption for individuals.
His heavenly kingdom is only for the redeemed individual. It’s not clear about kings and nations—that’s another interesting study because they are mentioned in future prophecy, see Rev 21:24.
Read Psalm 2, Psalm 24, 32, then Isaiah 26, and Jeremiah 33. Some of these are fairly familiar passages. These passages speak about geo-political rulers and nations, often in the context of judgment. God warned about influences from these nations and their gods. God consistently and emphatically made it crystal clear that His people should not follow the “ways” of the nations that surrounded them. That concept continued and was also made crystal clear to the individual Christian with regard to the world system in the New Testament.
In 1976 we didn’t have anything like the internet, we had no personal computers! There is quite a lot online about America 250, or as the White house has it “Freedom250”. We’ve had Rededicate 250 a few weeks ago.
Here are a couple of quotes from a web page that looks pretty good. www.declarationofindependence250.org/founding-father-quotes
“Since there is no truth more thoroughly established...that the propitious smiles of Heaven, can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained” — George Washington – Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789
“No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain blessings than United America. Much to be regretted would it be were we to neglect the means to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly.” — George Washington
One more… “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” — John Adams, our second president, in an address to military leaders.
That’s my two cents...
